Book Overview

Hunted meets The Wrath and the Dawn in this bold fairytale retelling--where court intrigue, false identities, and dark secrets will thrill fans of classic and contemporary fantasy alike.

Princess Alyrra has always longed to escape the confines of her royal life, but when her mother betroths her to a powerful prince in a distant kingdom, she has little hope for a better future.

Until Alyrra arrives at her new kingdom, where a mysterious sorceress robs her of both her identity and her role as princess--and Alyrra seizes on the opportunity to start a new life for herself as a goose girl.

But as Alyrra uncovers dangerous secrets about her new world, including a threat to the prince himself, she knows she can't remain silent forever. With the fate of the kingdom at stake, Alyrra is caught between two worlds, and ultimately must decide who she is and what she stands for.

Originally self-published as an ebook and now brought to life in hardcover with a refreshed design and completely revised text, Thorn also features an additional short story set in-world, The Bone Knife.

Lovely goose girl

Lovely retelling of the goose girl story! First of 3.

Still gushing over this a year later

There was so much I loved about this book. It was such a smooth and easy read, and was just so comforting to open up and return to throughout the day. I felt like the author introduced the fantasy world so slowly that it made it feel so natural and yet made me so eager to learn more. I rarely like female teen protagonists but Alyrra had my heart early on. For once a character I could relate to! Quiet and yet strong in her principles, but without being aggressive either. It was so satisfying and fulfilling to see her find people who appreciate and care for her as the book goes on. I loved that such real and gritty issues like abuse and injustice were dealt with but all without being crude or explicit. No bad language and no hormonal teens all over each other. The romance was actually subtle and incredibly sweet. After reading I ordered The Theft of Sunlight from the library and bought Sunbolt and Memories of Ash. I was not disappointed! I'm so excited to read more from Intisar Khanani.
