Fun with Shadows at Bed Time

As a father of three children I would highly recommend this book. It is a fun and educational way to address the fascination and sometimes fear that young children often experience when seeing shadows at bed time. The authors present a simple tale of two children, frightened by shadows projected on the wall by common household objects, who are then comforted by their mother who allays their fears by demonstrating the "secret" of how shadows are formed. They do so, however, by utilizing a truly innovative approach to make the story come alive whereby the reader can create his or her own shadows by projecting a pen flashlight onto various scenes in a "theater" that is part of the book. In this way it vividly demonstrates to the child that shadows are nothing to be frightened of and can actually be fun. In short, the book offers parents and children a delightful way to interact at bed time and to educate children about their fear of shadows
