A masterful, inviting telling of the Christian story. Christian faith, says Martin Copenhaver, is not a subject to be mastered like calculus or Shakespeare--it is a story to be told and a life to be... This description may be from another edition of this product.
Copenhaver is able to explain the basics and the breadth of the Christian faith in ways that are insightful, meaningful and understandable. I have used it in two classes of lay folks and the total of 35 people have said this book helped them the most in understanding the Christian faith.
Who we are and why we do the things we do as Christians
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 26 years ago
This is a book that can be used very effectively to help us understand why we do the things we do in a traditional Protestant church. And who we are. We are truly a peculiar people! We may join with others who do not share the Christian story if, in a particular instance, they are fighting the same evil we would fight or are pursuing the same good we would pursue. Even so, such alliances with fellow travelers will always be on an ad hoc basis. Inevitably, a time will come when we will have to travel the road less traveled, the one that leads to the cross and the empty tomb. I hope you will read the book with the same respect I have for Martin Copenhaver who, like the Apostle Luke, has written an orderly account for us --- concerning the things about which we have been instructed.
