To Hell and Back: The link between narcissistic abuse and parental alienation.

This book is largely autobiographical and tells the story of one mother's fight to protect her children, against all the odds. It describes a journey into hell and back; a David and Goliath fight to escape from eighteen years of domestic abuse, whilst simultaneously having to fight the authorities as well. It is an attempt to shine a light upon the link between narcissistic abuse and parental alienation. Both topics are contentious, highly misunderstood and largely ignored by society. The alienation of children is treated as a taboo subject in the UK, especially when women are the target parents. There is little understanding of the enduring agony that parents go through, no support in the aftermath of divorce and almost no media coverage to expose the impact upon families. People are left alone to battle their way through legal and child welfare systems, which are not fit for purpose. The carnage wrought upon society by those who inhabit the far end of the narcissism spectrum is one of the greatest problems that we face, yet society is no closer to understanding that domestic abuse is far greater than just physical violence. The tragedy is that prolonged emotional and psychological abuse can be far more painful and far longer lasting than broken bones. The instinct to protect their children is ingrained in most parents. When your child's heart and mind is stolen from you and you endure not only their loss but the knowledge that they are being abused every day, by the one person whom society thinks is taking care of them, it is an abject torment unlike any other. The fate of these children and their targeted parents is often a life sentence and the cycle can repeat itself down the generations. The book has drawn upon the work of experts on both subjects and explains what it is like to go through the British legal and child welfare systems. It describes how other agencies such as schools and medics can all end up as accessories to narcissistic abuse and get things completely back to front, in their misguided attempts to protect child welfare. Society needs to evolve and gain a greater understanding of the problems. We owe it to our children to do it fast.
