First the bad, yep, I know . . . 1962 Switzerland was a different world from 21st century United States. Tournier, as all of us, was a product of his culture. Therefore some of his words may come across as sexist to those of us who have been born and breed to watch out for such things. Now for the good, for those readers able and willing to lay aside their own cultural biases there is real gold to be found in this extremely short, easy to read, book. Tournier calls for an openness of communication in marriage that is likely to improve the relationship of ANY couple that takes his words to heart. His words stand the test of time.
