Funès becomes an expert in Latin American literature, and as an old man attends a conference in Lyon. The trip is a tribute to his much missed wife; a student drawn to him by his highly literary surname. During the trip he is visited by the ghosts of the Funèses of Cortázar, Bioy Casares and Roa Bastos, all the Funèses who should appear in the book he planned with his dead wife. And many more.
