In the world of Tokyo Ghoul, sometimes the only way to fight monsters is to become one... The Commission of Counter Ghoul is the only organization fighting the Ghoul menace, and they will use every tool at their disposal to protect humanity from its ultimate predator. Their newest weapon in this hidden war is an experimental procedure that implants human investigators with a Ghoul's Kagune, giving them Ghoul powers and abilities. But both the procedure and the newly formed Qs Squad are untested. Will they become heroes...or monsters? The Qs Squad once again proves its worth by going undercover to collect vital Ghoul information, allowing the CCG finally move forward with a massive eradication campaign. But this strike pushes the Qs to their limits, bringing all their weaknesses to the forefront. And Haise is the hardest hit when his hidden past rushes forth to impact his future
The Qs prove themselves against the naysayers once again at the CCG when they go undercover as ghouls to collect monumental intel. Meanwhile, the other investigators close in on the ghouls behind rosé, forcing the Tsukiyama group to disband and protect one of the few people able to break through to Sasaki and help him regain the memories that dwell in his salt-and-pepper head.
This volume is such a rush. Things are starting to wrap up with the rosé arc through a lot of action and new details about the characters pasts, leaving us in suspension as a new/old enemy rears her ugly head.
I gotta say the first 4 volumes are kind of boring and a little difficult to get through as involves a lot of talking and strategizing on the dove's part, which is something I don't particularly find interesting. I stuck with it of course, the story was still interesting and I loved the characters and seeing how they developed and interacted. But by volume 5, things really pick up as there is a bit more of the ghouls side of the story to help carry the plot through and hold my attention.
As always, the art is incredible and conveys the emotions of the characters very well. I can't wait for volume 6!
