What do you do when you have to choose between saving a life or saving yourself? Renowned cardiac surgeon Dr. Athan Carras's first concern has always been the welfare of his patients. Then he's approached by the very wealthy and even more powerful Terry Flynnt--a man who is used to getting what he wants, no matter what. Flynnt's son is dying, and his only chance of survival is to receive a donor heart--one that Terry intends to obtain by whatever means necessary. Athan is immediately opposed to performing an illegal and immoral operation, but Flynnt is not about to let that stop him. Now, caught in the crosshairs of a man with unlimited means and influence, Athan finds his own life--and the lives of those he loves--being torn apart. And he will have to decide how far he's willing to go, and what he is willing to sacrifice...
There are three requirements I demand in a thriller. The first is that it grips me and doesn't let my attention wander. The second is that I learn some new information and the third is that it challenges my own beliefs and gets me to think outside the box of what I have always believed to be true. Dr. John A. Elefteriades medical thriller "Transplant" elegantly meets all three requirements. Without giving away too much of the plot, the lead character, world renowned cardiac surgeon Dr. Athan Carras is thrown in a moral quandary when he is asked to perform a heart transplant on the son of an obsessed multimillionaire, Terry Flint. You are swept away in the adventure as you are forced to confront your own moral ethics and what you would do given the circumstances that are revealed in this exciting, fast moving medial thriller. Dr. John A Elefteriades ranks right up there with Michael Palmer and Robin Cook. As a bonus, Dr. Elefteriades presents you with thought-provoking ethical questions at the end of the books that will get you to reexamine your beliefs about what is necessary to make the leaps needed for medical advancement.

What is the life of someone close truly worth? "Transplant" is a medical thriller that asks this question. A doctor is faced with a patient in need of a transplant; the one willing donor is a family member. But the potential donor's life could seriously be jeopardized through the process. "Transplant" makes medical ethics a riveting read from first page to last.
Entertaining - to say the least - for more than one reasons...

The author's imagination takes the reader through a fascinating and entertaining journey. It also gives (a select few of) us a glimpse of what else the author was hoping to have achieved in his medical career.
Couldn't Stop Reading Till It Was Done

What an exciting medical thriller! The plot is neatly stitched together(forgive the metaphor). The main character, Dr. Athan Carras, gives the unusually accurate insights of a world-famous heart surgeon--especially since the author is just such a heart surgeon in real life. And while authenticity makes for an interesting novelty (and was why I bought the book in the first place), the novel is exciting and surprising in its own right. I cancelled my weekend plans because I just couldn't put the book down. And in the midst of all this heart-pounding suspense, the novel raised medical ethical issues, the dynamics of career versus family, arrogance versus competence, and winning versus succeeding.
