In a world of change and hurry and pressure, it's all too easy to miss the wonder - and the fun - of a child's early years. Parents and other loving adults know it's important to spend "quality time" with toddlers, but sometimes we don't know what to do. In this handbook of activities, Jan Brennan offers hundreds of ideas. For each week of each month, she presents books to read, nursery rhymes to say, songs to sing, games to play, crafts to make, foods to prepare, and explorations to take together. And these aren't elaborate activities for Supermoms with full-time help. They're simple, use materials likely to be at hand, and will charm both child and adult.
I was looking for ideas of things to do with my almost 2 year old and came across this book. It has awesome ideas throughout it. The only problem with the book is that most of it is geared for someone a little bit older. I usually think of a toddler as beginning walker up to 3. But, it really seems to be more geared toward 2-4 yo. I am looking forward to using these ideas with my daughter as she grows.
Clever and fun activities for toddlers

The activities in this book for toddlers are organized chronologically by month, and then divided by week. Each month has a theme (or treasure as the author calls them). For example, January's theme is winter, for March it's music and movement, for July it's freedom, and for November, thankfulness. The weekly themes are borrowed from a nursery rhyme. There is a wonderful mix of suggested books to read, songs based on familiar melodies, recipes, and activities such as games, exercise, and plays, which both teach and entertain. We've found this a really useful and fun book.
Great ideas but maybe a little advanced for 2's

This book is just what I was looking for! Activities are organized by every week of the year. There are seasonal activities, a short book list, recipes, songs, field trips and fingerplays. The activities are easily done with items around the house. I especially liked that the ideas were geared toward one child or a small group of children instead of a day care setting. I think the book will become even more useful next year when my toddler is a preschooler.
