Shazam is not a title which I read very regularly but I've always liked him as a character. The Trials of Shazam is a good introduction to those who are not familiar with the title, although previous knowledge of the character and his history, particularly his relationship with the wizard will give the story greater depth. The storyline involves the death of the wizard and how this affects Shazam and his protege. Its a coming of age story. All in all a great read. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because on principle I don't like multi-part graphic novel stories. I think if you go to the trouble of buying a graphic novel it should be a complete story.
Excellent

A well written "Passing of the Torch" story; involving Cap's ascension to The Rock of Eternity, and Freddie "Cap. Jr." move to be the acolyte to the Power of Shazam. The book does a very good job of continuing the mythos without completely forgetting the past.
