After September 11, 2001, Las Vegas Police Sergeant Randy Sutton began soliciting writing from law enforcement officers-his goal being to bridge the gap between the police and those they serve, with a book that offers a broad and thoughtful look at the many facets of police life. Hundreds of active and former officers from all over the United States responded: men and women from big cities and small towns, some who had written professionally, but most of whom were doing so for the first time. The result is True Blue, a collection of funny, charming, exciting, haunting stories about murder investigations, missing children, bungling burglars, car chases, lonely and desperate shut-ins, routine traffic stops, officers killed in the line of duty, and the life-changing events of September 11. Here, officers reveal their emotions as they recount the defining moments of their careers. Some of the stories include: -Two cops' desperate search for a missing child feared kidnapped -The revival of the one-month old baby who was shot in the face in a drive-by shooting-A patrol officer's dramatic showdown with a hostage-holding gunman-On-the-scene details of rescue and tragedy during the 9/11 terrorist attacks
You may call me biased, because I'm one of the authors in True Blue. ("The Emotional Switch" Page 32.) However, the stories by my fellow author/police officers included in True Blue, beat anything I've read in terms of power, valor and truth. Randy Sutton's, "Her Name Was Jackie" is one of many such. This book will make you laugh, upset your viewpoint and let you know what it's like to be on the gritty, and often extreme end of both cops and citizen's real life stories. All proceeds from this book go to the survivors of police officers killed in the Sept. 11th attacks.Randy Sutton wrote in my copy of True Blue, "Thanks for being part of the True Blue Family." No Randy. I'm honored. You, Cassie Wells, St. Martin's Press, and all those who buy this book are making a positive difference by giving back to surviving police families who've all lost and given so much.Rocky Warren Sgt. An honor to read, and be brought inside the blue line. The best Police stories book because it was written by the cops themselves not told to others to be written. A true look deep behind the thin blue line. An even higher calling that all sales go to NYPD and PAPD charity.. A must read.
amazing

Thank you to all who took the time to share with us the true, happy, sad, fearful and amazing lives of a police officer. I would have never realized the powerful jobs that each of you carry trying to protect us, everyday. Special thanks to Ray Majeski, Sitka, AK, for signing my book for my daughter Hillary--the first one that he signed. Seems he still touching the lives of others, even when he is no longer a police officer. Mary

As a law enforcement student I read as many of these types of books as possible. "TRUE BLUE" is by far the best... I couldn't put it down! The stories in the book are mesmerizing and because they are true and written by "real" cops makes this book a great read for anybody who wants to know the reality of police work and the dedication put forth in this profession. And as a double bonus..I found out that the proceeds from the sale of the book go to New York City 9-11 survivors fund. BUY THIS BOOK!!!
