This is the perfect book for focusing the attention of Christmas on Jesus, yet describing Santa Claus as the wonderful saint that he was and still is. The author does a terrific job of keeping Christmas special and magical and truthful. I look forward to reading it to my kids. I know they will learn much from it, and I will feel good that I am not being dishonest nor taking away from the magic of Christmas.
gentle book for children

I purchased this book as a Christmas present for my Godson who is a third-grader. It is a nice option for those who would like to focus on Jesus' birth and the historical Saint Nicholas without ruining the fun of Santa Claus. Mr. Prokop taught me theology when I was a freshman in high school (way back in 1986); I remember him as a nice person and a good teacher, so it was a pleasant surprise to find he has written a book that I can share with my children when they are a bit older.
Fantastic and Very Appealing Book on St. Nicholas

Do you yearn to reclaim poor old Saint Nicholas from the awful commericalism that has turned him into nothing more than a marketing ploy? Then this is the book for you! It tells the REAL story of Saint Nicholas and how he became Santa Claus. This book puts Jesus firmly back in place as the REASON for Christmas. My young children [ages 7, 4, 2 and a baby] LOVE this book and all of them can relate to it on their own level. It has been very helpful to us in keeping Christmas about Jesus. The story is sweet [and it *won't* "ruin" Santa for your kids at all - to the contrary it reveals him more fully as the Holy Saint he is]. The illustrations are warm and lovely. This book is a great tool for helping families keep their celebration focused fully on Christ and the real "meaning of Christmas".

It was not only entertaining, but very educational as well. The pictures are great too. They reflect exactly what is going on in the story. You can tell that Paul has a big heart and is a great father/husband to his children/wife. It shows in his writing.Great job Paul! Keep writing books like "The True Story of Santa Claus" and we'll keep buying them and reading them to our children/family.I'd love to meet you and your family some day! A Fresh View on Santa Claus

If you wish to merge the magic of Santa Claus with the miracle of Christmas, then look no further. Mr. Prokop has woven a beautiful story that does just this, for young and old alike. "The True Story of Santa Claus" tells the story of a young child on Christmas Eve who is anxiously awaiting Santa's arrival. When he meets Santa himself, he is given an unexpected gift - Santa Claus' own story. Through the medium of this brief story, children can be introduced to the true meaning of Christmas. The words are simple and clear, but not simplistic. The illustrations are crisp and eye-catching. In short, this book puts the "saint" back in Santa and the "Christ" back in Christmas. It can be read by a young reader and is especially ideal to be read outloud by a grown-up with a child sitting close at hand. An excellent read.
