- I really enjoyed reading this book. interesting murder mystery with multiple perspectives including the killer’s, the detective’s, the victim’s (main character) and the killers wife’s. The author did a good job transitioning perspectives and maintaining a cohesive story. It did not feel confusing but actually easy and exciting to follow. The author captured and maintained my attention from start to finish. I wanted to read more and more. It was never boring. It had a good storyline with added romance that wasn’t cheesy or over the top. I want to read more from this author. Would definitely recommend 👍
Great writing!

I didn't think I was going to like this book at first. It's not that it was bad, but it just seemed like one of those romance books that get too involved in the emotions of the character and not enough anywhere else. Boy was I wrong, and it didn't take me long to realize how wrong I was. My hubby had to come check on me in the bathroom to make sure I was okay because I wasn't ready to put the book down and was reading in the tub. (Yes, it's a great place to read!) This is the first book I've read from Brenda Novak, but it won't be the last. It was the best romantic suspense I've read in a while. Very impressive, and great writing!
Great Start to a new trilogy

This is my first book by Ms. Novak and I loved it! Skye was nearly raped 4 years ago. She fights off her attacker and he goes to jail. Unfortunately he's going to get out a lot sooner than any one thought. While they scramble to find a way to pin a few other murders on Oliver, Skye works closely with David - the original detective on the case. The two have very strong feelings for each other, but David feels an obligation to his sick ex-wife. As Oliver prepares to leave prison and exact his revenge on all those that have wronged him, Skye starts receiving threating messages. Does Oliver have someone working for him on the outside? Or does someone who has nothing to do with him want Skye dead??? Is it possible that two separate people, with two separate agendas both want to get rid of Skye? A fast paced thriller with enough twists and turns to keep you guessing until the end. I'm looking forward to next two books in the trilogy - which will focus on Skye's two friends & partners at The Last Stand

Intelligent, well-constructed mystery

"Trust Me", the first book in the "Last Stand Trilogy", is a fantastic start to what promises to be another great trilogy by Brenda Novak. Due to an attempted rape in her past, Skye Kellerman and 2 friends have started The Last Stand, a help group for victims of violent crimes. When Skye finds out the man who tried to rape her and threatened to kill her for her testimony against him is being paroled, her worse fears come true. Brenda Novak is a skillful writer. "Trust Me" is an intelligent, well-constructed mystery which is populated with everyday and believable characters that allow the reader to easily identify with their situations and feelings. The plot is tight and fast-paced, propelling the reader to an exciting and satisfying conclusion.
Trust Me-A Joyfully Recommended Title!!!

Four years ago, Skye Kellerman was viciously attacked in her own home by a rapist with a knife. She narrowly escaped and testified to put her attacker behind bars for what she hoped was a very long time. However, the attack brought Detective David Willis into her life. Skye has loved David almost since she met him, although the most they have shared was conversation and one stolen kiss. David is a man torn between the responsibility he feels toward his son and his sick ex-wife (who never lets him forget she's sick) and the love he has for Skye. But when Oliver Burke, the man who attacked Skye, is awarded early release from prison, David is determined to do whatever it takes to keep Skye safe. Because in Oliver's twisted mind, Skye is to blame for all that has happened to him and he's determined that she has to pay. Can David keep Skye safe? Once again Brenda Novak has proven that she knows how to write romantic suspense! Trust Me is a wide open ride that starts on the first page and doesn't slow down until the ending. The emotional angst of a man torn between the responsibility he feels for his ex-wife and son and the woman who he is filled with love and his need to protect her keeps the reader totally immersed in Skye and David's lives. Trust Me is the prefect beginning to what appears to be another must have series by Brenda Novak. I can't Joyfully Recommended Trust Me highly enough! Melissa Reviewed for Joyfully Reviewed
