The book is a little old, but the applications are up to date and very instruct-full

I have restored the paint on 2 cars now, in a very cost effective manner. This boot will provide you with a years worth of projects to get you car brilliant. I think the best part of this book, besides the excellent layout, is the Difficulty / Cost analysis. I highly recommend this book to ANY auto enthusiast and any one who needs to impress clients that consistently ride in there vehicles.

If you want to gain knowledge at how to properly detail a vehicle then you should start here -- especially if you have little or no experience. It provides guidance to safely and effectively detail cars so this is why I say it's great for a beginner. It's easy to read, thoughtfully organized, and full of good ideas. I would like to see an updated version, but this book is still very highly recommended.
