Howard Roger Garis (April 25, 1873 - November 6, 1962) an American author, best known for a series of books, published under his own name, that featured the character of Uncle Wiggily Longears, an engaging elderly rabbit. Garis was possibly the most prolific children's author of the early 20th century. Many of his books were illustrated by Lansing Campbell. The Bed Time Series was written by Garis beginning in 1910. Each volume contains 31 stories, one for each day of the month.
Absolutely loved the storylines, Uncle Wiggily Longears the Gentleman Rabbit, and all the forest characters that teach kids moral lessons while entertaining them. Who else has a steering wheel made out of turnips, so when you get hungry you can take a bite?! And delightful characters, such as Nurse Jane Fuzzy Wuzzy, a kind muskrat lady. I think Dr. Seuss must have gotten his ideas from reading Uncle Wigglily and all his adventures. I inherited an old book from my brother. He was 12, I was 2, and tore a lot of the pages out. But many of the stories are still there and I still love reading them, many decades later .... I will buy another copy of this to keep
