This is the first of three volumes of A Saga of Texas. The army is trying to make Texas habital for future settlers. The general in charge is trying to make peace with the Indians, while some his superiors would rather rid the territory of the Indians through war. It is an excellent account of the age-old battle between the 'hawks' and the 'doves'.Although some of the accounts are not quite believable, the book is very entertaining. I read the book in one day. I cannot wait for the next two volumes to be published.
