Ok but not riveting

The characters in this book are not especially entertaining or engaging. There is a lot of time spent examining their respective motivations without the reader feeling any closer to them. The plot is a little out of the ordinary but not particularly exciting.
I have already purchased the next book in this series but unless it is markedly better than this one, I will not look for more.
