Five Star Fun from Betsy Everitt

"Up the ladder, down the slide, so much fun to play outside!" And so much fun to read this book aloud to my preschool grandchildren, who already love Betsy Everitt's unique colorful illustrations in "Happy Hippopotomi." Her bright and sherbety pinks, greens, yellows and blues seem to add sunshiny fun to most any kind of a day! The lines on each page are short and pleasing to read aloud, encouraging joining in on soon-familiar lines. But beware, the friendly "See you next time" ending will surely be followed by pleas of "Read again, Read again! " This story is a perfect choice for read-aloud time, but is most fun immediately before a trip to the park. I would recommend "Up the Ladder Down the Slide" as an excellent choice for any care giver's read-aloud library, where Betsy Everitt's cheerful illustrations and rhythmically readable text will lend sparkle to any read-aloud session.
