More high end, less thrifty & sustainable

It says it's a thrifty, sustainable &seasonable kitchen in the title. It has nice pictures and a lot of recipes. I liked how to stock the pantry. The things I didn't like were most of the recipes. They were a bit on the fou-fou side. Recipes like spiced kibbe, located & smoked salmon hard boiled eggs, and ajvar do not say thrifty or sustainable to me personally. Ingredients and directions are quite clearly stated. Little recollections or stories add to the charm of this book. I really would have loved it to be more about what you should stock up on at the height of the season.
