Using Visual Basic 5 [With Contains Visual Basic Electronic Resource Center.]

I have used numbers of languages over the last 20+ years of development, used various manuals and texts but have found few books as good as this one. I have been developing in VB6 for the past few months and still I find that I am looking at this book for further help on syntax, methods and content. The tutorial nature of the book is perfect for someone who desires to learn VB, brush up on VB or perfect a skill area in the general VB arena. Concepts and paridigms are discussed and then shown in detail. A good Technical Read that should help anyone who seeks knowledge in VB

If you have ever programmed and especially if you have a little experience in Access or another MS application that uses VBA, BUY THE BOOK. It doesn't matter if the code has some mistakes, there's still a lot you can learn here all by yourself.I read it alone and practice at home. I would never imagine the practical way some code is demonstrated in the examples. And I have learnt a lot about things I thought I already knew.I still haven't reached half the book and it's already worth the money I spent on it. I don't suppose it will cover everything there is to know in a MS Certification Exam, for instance, but nevertheless you can learn a lot from this book.

I have read all of chapters. I think it is time to give some comments on this book, now.I just say "excellent!!!" after I finished the last page of this book. This book covered nearly every feature of VB5 especially in the field of web programming and client/server application development.If you are novice in VB, don't read it. If you are expert in VB and want to deeply know more details in specific topics, don't read it. But if you are very familiar with essentials of VB programming such as contents included in the VB Books Online ~ Programmer's Guide and want to master all of advanced features of VB5, you must read it first because this book not only saves time for you but also really touches every advanced features.I know the drawback of this book is its buggy code. But it does not impede you to understand it.Anyway, I gave this book 5 stars because it is really cool.

I have read almost everything of this book. So, I think I "can" provide some comments ~ just say:"Excellent one!".Before this book, I read Visual Basic 5 Books Online. But, the problem is: it is too slow to finish everything in order to get all of the features of VB5. So, I find this one. I did read it! I can say this book let you master the big picture of Visual Basic not only in concepts but also in technical details as soon as possible. This book gives you a good chance to touch everthing of VB5. If you want to become a guru of VB programming, this book is the "MUST" first book you should study in the way to your goal!I know there are some errors in the code of this book. But, it does not impede you understanding it. So, please forgive its author.This book is not for the biginners because it requires its readers having some background knowledge in VB itself, database, networking and web site design. But, anyway, if you think you have essential knowledge of the above-mentioned things, you should start from this book if you really want to become a "serious" and advanced VB programmer as soon as possible.After this book, I recommend VB fans to read VB5 Books Online and some books related to the specific advanced topics, such as ActiveX programming, Database programming, client/server application development, in VB.All right, good luck!

I simply love this book, it explains most topics in detail. I believe anyone who wants to be a somebody in VB programming should have this book. I just relocated from London and it was definitely in my suitcase!!! It covers programming for the beginner, Database and web Programming for the intermediate to advance users, it is simply a must have.
