Swami Abhedananda's works are all about the subject of Vedanta philosophy; this particular edition is perhaps his best, and explores the nature of the divine, the concept of soul, and compares the Vedanta Hindu path to Christianity for a Western audience. Notably here there is an East-to-West style exposition on the concept of divine incarnations, which fits at least partially in line with contemporary Theosophical material, although the latter typically professes the West (and Christ) to be supreme, while the Vedanta philosophy here sees them as interchangeable in nature, with each era and people having incarnations of various types of divinity.
