I happened across this book while browsing through the clearance rack in a Barnes & Noble store one day and I must say that I'm am not dissatisfied with my purchase in the least. This book is an amazing visual reference! Each page is filled with beautiful illustrations and it covers thousands of creatures, past and present. The book is organized by scientific grouping and under each picture is the name and genus of each animal, making this a very good educational tool for anyone interested in learning more about the animals that share our planet. It is also a GREAT artistic resource for those of you interested in animals artistically. Looking through the pages, children of all ages (adults included!) will be intrigued by the creatures they see within the colorful and detailed pages of this wonderful book and will undoubtedly want to learn more about the interesting (and often bizarre-looking) animals they see. In short, I would highly recommend this book to anyone who appreciates animals, has children, or is a child at heart. You'll enjoy hours of flipping from page to page in admiration and intrigue.
