My students were so engaged during the read aloud of this book. It tells the story of how the underground railroad worked through the eyes of a brother and sister escaping, their owners and slave catchers, the conductors and safe houses, as well as the people who received them into freedom. After studying the biographies of Henry Box Brown and Harriet Tubman, this book brought that time period to life. I can't wait to buy more of this series to add to my classroom library. Suitable for 8-12 year olds and up.
