This book is a sequel to Fowler's JEREMIAH MARTIN, based in the Revolutionary War. The hero of this story is the son of Jeremiah Martin. He is a spoiled young man who has been studying medicine in London on the eve of the War of 1812. His father calls him home and manipulates him into going aboard a Baltimore privateer as a ships surgeon. He gets into one scrape after another. And through his eyes we get an overview of the WAr of 1812, especially the war at sea.
