This book was of more help to me in understanding the Bible than most I have read in the past thirty years. Methodist Bishop Warman, Central Pennsylvania Conference Recommended as an able presentation of a position that must be countered by those who would use force to accomplish a 'good end.' 'Christianity Today' Eller has wit as well as learning and some very real insight into biblical wisdom.... Agnostics and skeptics along with a large number of co-religionists could very well appreciate his original...interpretation. 'Publishers Weekly' Although Eller's touch is light, his goal is sharply in focus: to get his reader to adopt such a faith in God and His sovereign providence that he is willing to defer to Him who is the Great Avenger, rather than to take things into his own hands as far as His Cause is concerned, including one's own welfare....
