Great book, beautiful pictures and stories. Gives you a feel for each of the forces. My only complaint is that there are units from the books is combined from that were not added to this book, so you still end up having to purchase those as well. That's me only issue with the entire thing.
I got it today and already played through 5 games

Now I know what you are thinking "Well it just looks like 40k" and there are similarities but I asure you that Warmachine is a whole different beast. The main thing I will say is that it is very VERY simple opposed to 40k. There are 2 phases of combat: Maintenance and Activation. Maintenance is just moving your focus ( magic points ) and planning. Activation is everything else ( movement, attacking, using focus, spells, etc ). Also a big thing with me, I live on a small budget and this is MUCH cheaper than 40k. I just bought this and a starter pack ( a battlegroup for one of the factions ) which is essentially a little under a 400pt army for about $60. Any new rule that's added for a certain unit comes WITH the unit when you buy it. All the models come with a card with their stats and abilities on it. This game is really easy to just pick up and play. The backstories for the factions are all very well written and do a good job in submerging you into the world. So like the book says, "Play like you got a pair" Pick it up, buy a battlegroup, and play it...you'll love it.
