I truly enjoyed "We Are Never as Beautiful as We Are Now." Gallari is an extremely talented young writer whose skill in subtly and powerfully touching and retouching on what I believe to be the theme of the entire book was a pleasure to be a part of. That theme, for me, is change. Growing up, things being different than they were not all that long ago, even the changing of the seasons as baseball begins and hope springs anew. Without wasting a word or resorting to tricks, Gallari placed me in every story in the collection. I was a passive observer watching his characters struggle, hurt, strive, and long to be loved. He has written a wonderful debut. I'm looking forward to his next release.
