The true stories of three childhood friends who find themselves in World War II from Saipan to the Battle of the Bulge to hauling explosives across the Pacific. Ken Ross, Normand Black and Carl... This description may be from another edition of this product.
I'm not normally a fan of W.W.II. stories, but this one took my breath away. What these 3 patriotic guys, straight out of high school, go through is both frightening and hillarious. They get shot at in battle, have bombs exploding around them, sleep next to high explosives, save a dog from enemy gunfire and find it home in France, have wild nights in Paris, have crazy times with prostitutes, scour an island for enemy troops (who are hiding, armed and dangerous), the list goes on and on. These stories are gritty, filled with human pathos, and exceptionally entertaining. I strongly recommend this book. It will move you from the gamut of fears to tears to laughter.
