I started a web business on my own and it's been great. What this book does is gives me ideas, other directions of thought. It isn't a bible, and some sites chosen are pretty hopless, but some are great.I use it to show my clients as example, and I build on that. It's similar to going to the barber, the client need to check out the different styles in the magazines. Another book that I find excellent is called www.type the better of the two

As a web designer I have found this book to be most inspirational. While I do not agree that all of the sites that he lists in the book are designed well, it does provide many examples of various types of web sites with beautiful pictures and site layouts.
When you need inspiration for interface design, read this.

A visually stimulating and inspiring book that is one of my favorate on graphic design for the electronic media. This is not a book for beginners who are learning the basics of web design though, for it focuses on the visual aspect of interface design alone.

I'm a web designer that needed inspiration for fresh ideas. This book provided me with a systematic way of coming up with ideas and designing from the ground up. It also inspired me and gave me new ideas by looking at the beautiful graphics of other sites. I was pleasantly surprised that this book teaches you the principles of design and marketing while using various successful websites as examples (I thought it would just be a showcase of pretty pages). I just wish it wasn't paperback as I'll probably wear it out very quickly from reading it over and over...

It's just a wonderful book. The design and concepts shown in this book are out of this world. I learnt a lot from this book and it opened/widened by mind on wider level for designing. A must for interface designers. Keep it up WOW series, as this is my 3rd book on WOW.
