Everyone knows a Feiffer illustration when they see one: His characters leap across the page, each line belying humor and psychological insight. Over Feiffer's prolific 70-year career, his nimble and singular imagination has given us new perspectives as well as biting satires on politics, love, marriage, and religion-alternating with stories imbued with the playful anarchy of a child. Feiffer's varied output includes children's books ( The Phantom Tollbooth and Bark, George ), plays ( Little Murders ), movies ( Carnal Knowledge and Popeye ), and comic strips (most notably in his Pulitzer Prizewinning Village Voice comic strip of 42 years). Out of Line: The Art of Jules Feiffer is the long-awaited illustrated retrospective of Feiffer's celebrated career, providing a revealing glimpse into his creative process and his role as America's foremost Renaissance man of the arts.
Just one review to this gem of a book so far? I can't believe it!I loved it from beginning to end. Each time I feel I'm the only one suffering from corporatitis, I read it again and enjoy either the absolutely hilarious text and the funniest possible illustrations. Highy recommendable. Now I'm glad that there are at least two good reviews... it deserves more!
The Sad Thing Is That I Have Worked at Companies Like This

Think of this as an 80s Dilbert. It's pre-cube and pre-Internet, but very, very funny. From the bumbling boss (Scott Adams did not create the Pointy Haired Boss) to the yuppie project manager in the business suit and heels, this book is full of familiar characters. I swear one of my bosses modeled for the manager, right down to the hairstyle. From office morale to team building weekends to the war against the photocopier to corporate policy on stress management (I still giggle hysterically at some of those cartoons) this book is perfect for anyone who sometimes needs to see the funnier side of work.By the way, this makes a great gift for a coworker moving on to greener pastures.
