There was one common denominator and that was Paul Jackson.

Paul was going to suffer a terrible road accident when he was just about to propose to his gorgeous girlfriend, Amy Jane only to find himself waking up many years into the future to be greeted by his loved ones again but now they had changed, they were different, they had amazing new abilities such as teleportation. The earth was now a glorious paradise and all the wicked people had gone as God was now the ruler. It was called the new order. Paul found he could not have Amy Jane as his girlfriend anymore as she was now married to his son .

A devastated Paul had to find another love, and he did, but Laura was a rebel who couldn't accept male authority, so the ruling righteous designated Paul had to be with someone already chosen for him instead of her.Paul loved Laura and couldn't do it so he disobeyed them and they defiantly absconded together, making love in the process. The authorities caught up with them and the punishment was expulsion from the new order by electrocution.

Back in the present day, Paul Jackson was slowly coming back to life in his hospital bed via a defibrillator with his loved ones all around him. Paul had been saved by a passing nurse called Laura who had given him crucial CPR which had bought him back from the dead as he lay dying on the road, but Paul was to find the world he had come back to was not the same as the one he had left.
