To neighbors, she was the brave single mother... Raising her five kids alone in a rundown section of Sacramento, Theresa Cross Knorr seemed like the ultimate survivor. But her youngest daughter, 16-year-old Terry, told police another story: one almost too terrible to believe. But accused of imprisoning her children in a house of horrors... According to Terry, Theresa--no longer the petite brunette she once was--had turned insanely jealous of her pretty eldest daughters and enlisted the help of her two teenaged sons in a vicious campaign against their sisters. Of beating, torturing and killing her own flesh and blood... Terry's gruesome tale told how Theresa had drugged, handcuffed and shot 16-year-old Suesan, allowing her wounds to fester, until the day she ordered her sons to burn their sister alive. Next, Terry said Theresa severely beat 20-year-old Sheila and then locked her in a stifling broom closet, so that when the girl finally starved to death, her brothers dumped her body in the same desolate mountain range where they had cremated Suesan. She could be one of the most evil murderesses of our time... It took Terry five agonizing years to convince authorities to investigate her grisly accounts of burning flesh, starvation and torture...of a mother from hell, so sadistic and so deranged, she had become her children's own executioner. Wensley Clarkson Whatever Mother Says ... is the true story of a mother, madness and murder.
This book was chilling, and one of the best books I have ever read. I don't think I looked up until I was about halfway through. Overall an awesome informative book.

After reading the introduction I am still debating whether to read it or not. Being a mother it is hard to believe a mother could be that jealous and cruel.
Can't even finish it....it is that badly written

I was expecting much more from this book including details, which were lack luster to say the least. The authors writing is extremely bland and she constantly says "Theresa Knorr" about 5 billion times as if we didn't realize the main characters name by now. Again, I was expecting something much more intriguing.
How could a mother be so cruel?!

This book was very good but also sad, I could not believe that a mother would do those awful things to her daughters: one daughter she shot and left her in the bath tub to bleed to death and then burned her alive, another daughter she locked in a small closet starved her until she passed out and died. All through this book I kept thinking "What is wrong with their mother?! How could she be so jealous?!" This book is sad but it's a page turner, you can't stop reading it until the end!
Incredibly Unthinkable Acts

I was glued from beginning to end. There is such a bigger impact when you find associated media on the subject either by talk shows and news or magazine clippings. That's the fun part of it all. I was supprised while reading the book, that it took sssooo long for police to investigate the issues the girl and others brought to their attention. But like one of the other reviews states, some of the facts may be misrepresented or stretched a bit. I'd be curious to find out more! A Must Read for those who like True Crime!
