Spoiler: I haven’t read the text, yet.
As a later diagnosed adult (~30) getting my immediate family to comprehend & understand that I am & always have been trying has been challenging & demoralizing to say the least.
I found one of the authors lectures online and felt seen & hopeful about my diagnosis and prospects for my future. I ordered this book for my mother, who has been significantly invalidating & dismissive. I know she’s reading it & coming to comprehension and understanding from the way that she has been interacting with me over the last month. It is refreshing, delightful, & I cannot overstate how much JOY this has brought me. I don’t think that could’ve been an accomplished without this book. I had given up seeking to been seen & accepted.
I will read once she is finished, but if you are hesitant at all about the impact the information in this book can have on any of your relationships — I can confidently say that yes, if absorbed & implemented can and will improve how your loved ones see, understand & interact with you.
Just order it, what’s another book? This one isn’t for us to read anyways. 🙂😅
