Read Candy Finnigan's posts on the Penguin Blog. From a nationally recognized addiction specialist featured on the A&E series Intervention , a comprehensive and compassionate guide to confronting a loved one with an addiction. What do you do when someone you care about is caught in the downward spiral of addiction? The goal of an intervention is to get the person who is addicted to alcohol, to drugs, to gambling, to sex, to what have you to seek treatment-to seek treatment today . And it is remarkably effective: over 80 percent of people faced with an intervention agree to get help. In When Enough Is Enough , Candy Finnigan offers support, advice, and hope to people who care about someone with an addiction. She acknowledges that although intervention is a powerful tool, it is a complicated process-one that absolutely must be done right. This kind of confrontation must be highly structured, and Finnigan-a veteran of hundreds of interventions-provides a frank but sympathetic guide to preparing for and staging an intervention. By talking readers through the personal, medical, psychiatric, financial, and legal issues involved, she turns what seems like a chaotic and overwhelming task into a manageable and empowering experience.
I watch Intervention every Monday night. I still watch the reruns over and over. I am 58 years old and just starting to get my CASAC. For many years I was an LPN. I am a recovering Alcoholic. My favorite person on the show is Candy Finnergan. I feel like I identify with her in many ways. Some people where I work think I'm to much of a softee at times, but with recovery comes love. I will not " love them to death either." But I make sure they know I love them. Thank You Candy for this book. I have passed it on to my supervisor to read also. I loved every page. Sincerely, Ann Albright

I am fortunate to have experienced Candy Finnigan's experience, strength and hope in person. I adore her huge heart and have often been deeply moved by her tears of joy when she listens to someone she has helped share about their recovery. I'm so glad she has written a book so that people around the world can benefit from what she has so freely given to recovering addicts. There is nothing an alcoholic or addict can put over on Finnigan! Trust me. She always has an answer for every excuse, every "Yes, but..." She's amazing. She's a gift. She is Blessed. And she's heard 'em all! This is the second copy I am buying - the first was for a family who needed it - this one is for me, even after 20 years in recovery. If you think you know someone who is having problems with addiction - - please buy this book. You may just save a life- like Candy has.
