A great little guide that is very informative. It gives opinions/descriptions of different restaraunts in many major cities (and some smaller ones) that might not generally be available. As a traveller I welcome this book,I've used it already and will refer to it often. It's about time we had an alternative to AAA , Zagats and Mobil. I hope there will be a Volume 2 or an update to this one.

I confess, I'm not a planful traveler. Plane ticket, hotel and enough room on my credit card to charge expenses is about as organized as I get. So when I arrive and am looking for a place to eat, I often find myself at the mercy of that little magazine you find in the hotel room. And I can't help but feel that there's a whole lot of marketing goin' on there. So I really like "Where the Locals Eat". It's easy to pack and easy to read, with 10 interesting and engaging restaurant reviews per city and a longer list ("The Rest of the Best") to round out the 100 restaurants/city promised in the title. I recognized my favorites on the lists for the cities I know (Chicago, Seattle, Nashville, Washington, D.C.) and consider that a good validity check - making me interested in checking out a lot of the other recommendations, even here at home. Thanks for a great guide!
