Katz was the first White person (or certainly one of the very first) to show and discuss racism as a White problem and issue. This is an important book that needs to be read by all professionals. Allen Ivey, EdD, ABPP Distinguished Univ. Professor University of Massachusetts, Amherst

While this book is 20+ years old, Katz offers a useful resource to examine various aspects of racism. I use this book with college students in an introductory course on "race, class, and gender" and the students find the exercises useful in beginning to explore many issues.
