The double meaning of the title refers to the pop group of which Frank is manager and Tom a singer. The two visit Sophie, Baroness Lemberg, a
seaside fortune teller, for professional consultation. Frank says Tom is trying to lure away his girl and asks the fortune teller's help. Tom, however, sees through her attempts and reveals that Frank's attitude rests on lies, as does his own situation. Tom leaves Frank, who is distraught, and in return reveals to Sophie the secret of his true relationship with his friend. Finally, Sophie herself reveals that her supposed title and high connections are lies. Lies, in fact, surround all the seedy trio. This new version of White Liars was seen in 1976 at the Shaw Theatre.
