A funny thing happened on the way to the pulpit . . .Join pastor and humorist Brett Younger in this hilarious look at almost everything ministerial. Who Moved My Pulpit? invites us to laugh at the ridiculous and celebrate the holy. Ministers try so hard to keep everything under control that they often miss the fun of it. When church leaders feel frustrated, there's a better option than giving up or giving in. They can open their eyes to a new perspective and cultivate a life shaped by Christ's joy. This look at everything from pastor search committees ("Does this swimsuit make my hips look big?") to church answering machines ("The Lord be with you, but I'm in a meeting") is for everyone who wants to remember the love that led them to church in the first place.
Anyone who can mention Slammers in a book is my hero!! Waiting for the parental units to order it for me, but the part we read at camp was hilarious. :) Can't wait to read the rest.
Having fun in the ministry...why not?!

This book claims to be a HILARIOUS look at ministerial life, and it more than lives up to its title. "Who Moved My Pulpit" is filled with stories, jokes, and top ten lists that will have you laughing from start to finish, whether you're a lay person or a member of the clergy. Dr. Younger obviously loves being a minister, and he illustrates how experiencing the true joy of ministry is often a matter of one's perspective. He leaves no topic unexplored including seminary, preaching, finding a job, committee meetings, pastoral care, bedside manner, music in worship, evangelism, church directories, secretaries, youth camp, angels, and even Harry Potter. In weaving all of this together Younger shows how to laugh at otherwise tedious things, revel in holy things, and be grateful for wonderful things. This book would be a good read for anyone who wants to know what it's really like, or at least what it can be like, to be in the ministry. It would be especially good for anyone who has ever been to seminary, or worked on a church staff. You will find many commonalities between your experience and that portrayed in the book. This book would be a wonderful gift for your pastor on his or her birthday, at Christmas, during staff appreciation week, or just any day that you decide to give your pastor a well deserved token of appreciation.I highly recommend this book to anyone who regularly participates in church life. This is the funniest book I've ever read about ministry. Life in Christ, and life in the ministry, can be fun and Younger shows us how.
Worth its weight in communion wafers

Anybody with the stamina to sit behind a pile of commentaries long enough can write yet another one. Books on preaching? Heard them all. Volumes on pastoral ministry? Who cares. But a really good book about "church work" that can make you laugh and cry and laugh again? Worth its weight in communion wafers. Brett Younger's "Who Moved My Pulpit?" will make you fall in love with ministry all over again.
