SHEILA WON'T BUT YOU WILL WANT TO SHARE this charmer with your favorite three, four, or five year old... Curly-headed round-bellied little Sheila, sweet in her overalls and t-shirt, is not one for sharing. Unless you want green beans. It takes a very loved and loving Nana who shares a hug and kiss to change Sheila's ways. Utterly simple, completely disarming, and absolutely true.
My 25 month old loves this book and asks me to read it over and over again. The text is very simple but elegant and almost musical. Some of the words are in bold which helps the one reading aloud put in the proper emphasis, almost like a modern poetry reading. My daughter is enthralled by Sheila, who looks to be the same age she is, probably because Sheila behaves just like my daughter and my daughter's friends. The text on each page is short enough not to lose the attention of the youngest audience and I think the book itself is short enough to get through in one sitting with even the most impatient 1 year old. The message of sharing is presented very simply. People are sad when you don't share, sharing can be an act of love, and everyone is happy when you share. If you're looking for a book to explain the concept of sharing to your toddler, I don't think you could find a better one than this. The diversity of the characters (age and ethnicity) is also a great feature.
The illustrations are so funny!

Will Sheila Share is a very simple story about a toddler who has very strong feelings about sharing. The illustrations are so funny. My three year old and I laughed and laughed but then we talked about how hard sharing can be. Sheila does share in the end after seeing her friends become sad. Great book for toddlers to explore feelings involving sharing!
