This is the best book I've read on back pain. It is written by three very knowledgeable doctors. Statements are backed up with recent researh and well documented. Their approach to back treatment is cautious and conservatve. Avoid unnecessary tests, treatments and, especially, surgery. Their statement that you should think of your back ache as "the tension headache of the back..." was very helpful to me. Anyone who has struggled with this problem should buy this book immediately!
