I bought this not realizing that it was geared to youths, but found it delightful nonetheless. The book is a very nice compilation of basic chess strategy and tactics, coupled with well chosen illustrative games, many played by Grandmasters during their youth. This in itself brings a wonderful simplification to the historical games. Moreover, it is interlaced with a number of interesting tidbits on chess history, notable players in the past few hundred years, and short, but entertaining, chess lore. I will certainly keep this and have my daughter read it when she is old enough.
