Easy-to-understand (even if you're in a panic)

After reading about this book in Newsweek magazine, I bought a copy and found it extremely helpful. A custody battle is hard on everyone (including the father) and I found this book to be encouraging and hopeful. Ms. Hunter really "talked me down from the ledge" and I hope I can feel as positive as she did at the end of the road.

Deedra's book is a godsend. The included insight from her kids is very helpful. You can put yourself in her shoes with ease. Being a product of divorce myself, I could relate on so many levels. The book was just mentioned in NEWSWEEK magazine. Deedra is quoted in the article and explains that there is no real "winner" in these matters. I have recommended this book to many of my male friends going through a custoday battle. They have found it just as helpful as a woman. We all want what's best for our kids and Deedra's experiences really come to life and let us know that we are not alone.

Hunter shares her personal tragedies and deep dark secrets that did not hurt her case in any way! I found her custody process was as humiliating, infuriating, and degrading as my own. Hunter gives women and mothers that voice we so desparately need to fight for ourselves and our children. Hunter reminds us mothers how to identify with our need for that deep mother love and how we can give it in spite of ourselves by seeing the bigger picture. Don't retreat into fear, fight for what you know is right! The Great Mother and the sisterhood are behind you.

This was, by far, one of the most inspirational books I have ever read. The ramifications of this book have had far reaching effects on all aspects of my life. This is a must read for anyone going through a custody dispute. The author really knew what she was talking about.
