Women's Dhammapada and Feminist Fire Sermon

The version of the Dhammapada in this book contains the same text as the English translation of the Dhammapada translated by Friedrich Max M ller and published in The Sacred Books of the East (which is in the public domain in the United States), except that this version has been changed to use American rather than British spelling (harbor rather than harbour, for example), changes "he" and "his" and "him" to "she" and "hers" and "her" as required to be grammatically correct and female-centric (except when speaking of specific beings with a certain gender, like Mara), changes "Bhikshu(s)" to "Bhikshuni(s)", changes "man" to "woman", changes "men" to "women", changes "himself" to "herself", changes "son(s)" to "child(ren)", changes "fellow" to "woman", changes "lordship" to "authority", changes "layman" to "laywoman", changes "king(s)" to "queen(s)" except when referring to the king of death, changes "lord" to "mistress" (except when referring to Yama), changes "lordship" to "rulership" except when referring to Indra, changes "god(s)" to "goddess(es)", changes "a friar" to "an ordained woman", changes "man's wife" to "woman's husband", changes "man towards women" to "woman towards men", changes "nor a father" to "nor a mother", changes "king(s)" to "queen(s)" and "kingdom" to "queendom", changes "neighbour's wife" to "neighbor's husband", changes "sons and a wife" to "children and a husband", changes "mankind" to "humankind", changes "laymen" to "laywomen", changes "hero" to "heroine", changes "manly" to "brave", and puts the chapter titles in bold. The version of the Fire Sermon in this book is a feminist rewriting of the Fire Sermon, or in other words a feminist version of the Fire Sermon. It is based on the text of the Fire Sermon as translated for SuttaCentral by Bhikkhu Sujato, published there in 2018, and dedicated to the public domain via Creative Commons Zero (CC0).
