Photographs and text weave together many strands of Wyoming's frontier history in this book. The stories of historic forts that exist to this day--along with those forts now living only in... This description may be from another edition of this product.
I have visited Fort Bridger, and plan to visit Forts Casper and Laramie (which is not in Laramie) in 2009. I bought this book to better familiarize myself with the forts before visiting. This book is beyond any expectation I had before purchasing. The cover and paper used are of extremely high quality. The photographs are breathtaking. Not only was the photographic equipment obviously professional, but the photographer's vision for capturing the sites is noteworthy. Simply stunning. There are a few informational "facts" in the book that I find questionable, but close enough I suppose. History is, after all, a matter of interpretation. The prose is also good although it is written in the style of a coffee table book; brief and to the point. Perhaps not for historians, but within its own scope, certainly suitable. I highly recommend this book for the photos alone and find it to be a true 5-star product.

I highly recommend this book for it's beautiful color photography of historical western fort interiors, details, and militaria. As a student of history, I find this book to be essential to my studies.
