The Pirate Raiders, with the villainous Captain Bardoso in command, are employed by the vicious Captain Ramon to kidnap the daughter of a wealthy caballero, hoping to use her to trap Zorro. Battles on... This description may be from another edition of this product.
It was a little before my time, but I heard that kids used to go to the movie theater every week and watch a serial. It would end on a cliffhanger and the next week, the hero would somehow be rescued or get out of the death trap until the end of that episode. Well, Zorro and the Pirate Raiders is exactly like that. It keeps you on the edge of your seat the whole time. I liked the first half better than the second half because he was using his wits more to scare the pirates (by making them think there was a ghost aboard their ship). I got a little tired of the constant ups and downs before I was done reading, but it was still a fun book. It sort of carries on from The Curse of Capistrano (aka The Mark of Zorro) where Zorro wooed Lolita Pulido. In the Pirates book, Don Diego is betrothed to her and supposed to wed the very next day but she is carried off by pirates. This book is not written by the original author who created Zorro, but it pretty good if you are dying for more Zorro stories.
Outstanding adventure!!!!

I first stumbled across this when i was in High School. The book along with it's sequel Zorro Rides again were in a local barnes and Noble and I snatched them up. The story is very epic and exciting and i must have read it a thousand times. At the end of McCulley's Mark of zorro the dual identity of Don diego/Zorro is revealed openly. however, this is ignored in this volume and while betrothed to diego It's clear that Lolita Pulido is both still in love with Zorro and unaware of his identity. the Pirates are introduced here their cheif is a bear of a character who fits well within the type of swashbuckling adventures of Zorro. I heartily reccommend this to any Zorro fan
